Hello All,
I am new here. I found this group about a month ago posted at NYCCOFE networking group website. At first I was intimidated because of the high scores constantly posted, and I thought this was a site where members just brag about how they studied for a month with little effort and passed the test. But after being forced to stay in due to the hot weather, I decided to actually read the posts

I now find them to be encouraging, and inspiring. This entire MBA process has been a crazy journey for me.
About Me:
Mid 20’s
Undergrad: BFA Fashion & Graphic Design
Work: 4 yrs exp as a designer, 1.5 yrs as a brand manager
Took the GMAT after a Princeton Review class Nov 2006: walked away with a 430
That’s when I realized that the tricks would not help me, I needed to learn the content. Therefore I enrolled in courses at Community College with the guidance of Admissions at my top school choice.
As of today I have taken: English 101 (helped with writing and grammar), Statistics, Elementary & Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry, and Intro to Business. I am also starting an Accounting and Pre-Calc class this week.
Some may think this is a lot, but please understand that my Undergrad degree did not require any math or business classes so most of the concepts and language are new to me. I have been fortunate to have over 5 years of experience in the fashion industry as a designer and brand manager for 2 of the largest companies in the US. I am very resourceful but I want to have a better understanding of management and decision making when it comes to marketing a product or brand.
The fashion industry is a Multi-Billion dollar industry but one must live in NYC or LA. I want to add to my skill set so that I can be more marketable as an applicant and have the option of crossing over into consumer products.
Since the last test, I have been studying like crazy, and plan to take it again within the next 30 days. I think I’m ready this time. I would love to be in the 700 club, but would be happy with anything over 600. I will keep you all posted on my progress and will participate and post more often.
