hey all,
I did my first GMAT test yesterday, and scored an abismal 510 with Q29/V33. I guess it was a combination of me worrying about the silliest things before the test (i.e what I should wear to be comfortable, what I should bring to snack, what I should do at breaks, should I take the full breaks, what if I don't do well, etc..etc..etc...) as well as the test itself, but bottom line, I felt more concerned with the minor stuff more than doing well on the test and concentrating fully on the questions in front of me.
I've done Kaplan Premier Program, started with this, than moved to Princeton 2008, and found that alot easier to understand, especially with the early math concepts, did fine on Princeton, but usually didnt get a score higher than 550 on the Princeton tests, than went back to Kaplan and did the computer based practice tests per category, and did well on all of them except for CR and DS. So i went back to Princeton to study up and do more questions, and found myself having a greater understanding of the concepts and how they were tested. Did some Kaplan practice tests and best score was a 610. Than did GMAtprep tests and got 550 respectively in two. Most of the time, after error review, I'd find that my errors where so small, and they weren't based on the fact that I didn't understand the concepts.
I found that my GMAT experience, q section, had most questions based upon Inequalities, which I had not really studied, as well as Parabolas..which shocked me as my first question on the exam.
I've scheduled another GMAT exam in 1 month's time, as I'm planning to apply to school for Sept 2008 entry, so apps need to be in as early as Jan, 2008.
I've picked up OG after reading many posts that say it's quite good. I will also pick up an old Grade 11 Albegra book to learn more of the basic concepts.
Any other ideas or comments would be much appreciated, thanks!!!
