I've been preparing for the GMAT for the last couple of months on my own and with Kaplan. On Kaplan's CAT tests and the GMAC test online I been consistently scoring around 600. (lowest 570 highest 680). Yesterday, I took the gmat and my unofficial score reports i got a 470.
im devastated and I'm not sure what to do next or what I did wrong. Is there EVER an error in the unofficial score? Can anyone offer ANY advice?

i've heard several stories just like yours. with your 600 average you should have been hitting at least 580. have you tried MGMAT tests.
give it a go one more time after a months time. do the sets and gmatprep. you should be alright then.

Have you taken the Powerscore or Official GMAT Practice Tests yet? What was your break-out (Quant & Verbal)?
I liked MGMAT (Manhattan GMAT) because it provides you with your own error guide and shows you what types of questions you got wrong, what you got right, how long it took, etc.
I don't believe the math in MGMAT is at all realistic but if you can do well on those tests, you should do fine on the real thing.
Take some practice tests, do some analysis and find your weak points. Once you have that figured out, you'll be able to raise your score.
Another good place to start is the Chinese Zip files (PS, DS, SC, CR, RC).
