Is there anyone who has been able to improve his verbal score from 33 to +40? I got V34 a couple of years ago and 33 in test 1 of GMATprep last week. By the way, I am an internation student.
It will be very difficult. I scored about a 31V on my diagnostic and scored a 39V on the actual test. English is not my first language. The best strategy would be to work on sentence corrections. This is the one question type where you can improve quickly and diminish time. Also, the key to sentence corrections is idioms!!! That's the one place where you can't just 'figure it out' unlike comparisons or parallel structures where you can eyeball it. With idioms, you just have to know it b/c whether something is idiomatic or not, it all sounds good. Idioms will help you eliminate at least one answer choice on many of the SC's. Can't stress enough how pervasive idioms are, especially to the non-native speaker.
With the extra time, use it to fully understand the reading passages. Also, read scholarly articles (businessweek, economist, time, nyt etc). Start from there.
