I've got my second sitting this Friday (2/22) and am feeling pretty confident... Does anyone have any suggestions for some good, but essential, general quant material to review prior to the test and with only two days left? I'm planning to just review essay structure and general question approach Thursday (I made the mistake of studying all day prior to my last test), but figured I could at least review some quant tonight, but not too much.

I think I'm good to go with Verbal.

Shooting for a 650+ after a 540 my first time.

Set aside a few problems to do as a warm-up before the test. If it eases your mind, set aside some problems that you have already solved, with explanation in front of you. Just jog your memory.

Wow... What a disaster that was. I ended up with a 530 (32Q, 31V). I honestly don't know what my problem is. I did well in practice tests leading up to the exam and didn't run out of time today. Here's my breakout on practice tests:

MGMAT CAT 1 - 560 (37Q/30V)
MGMAT CAT 2 - 620 (43Q/32V)
MGMAT CAT 3 - 640 (43Q/35V)
MGMAT CAT 4 - 650 (41Q/37V)

One thing that I do know for sure is that Manhattan GMAT CATs are in no way inidicative of your final score. I have extra time (accomidations) on the test, so I'm not able to use the GMATPrep software as you cannot adjust the timer.

The verbal section of the real test is MUCH harder than there's (partciularly the Sentence Correction passages). Also, the Reading Comprehension is on par, Critical Reasoning is too easy as well. CR is what killed me though. Quant seemed not to be that bad, so I'm not really sure what happened.

UGH. It's too late for me to take another, so I'm in quite the quandry. Good thing I spent countless hours studying, writing essays, etc and thousands of dollars visiting schools, hiring tuturs and buying prep books...

I'm am in general a pretty smart person, so maybe I'm just a bad test taker? I never had great grades in college. I do feel like I know the content well enough to score at a minimum a 640, so this is really frustrating.

Wow...I wonder what happened?

How much extra time did you give yourself on the MGMAT tests? usually those are fairly good indicators of what your final score will be, and usually on the low side of that.

I know... That's what I've been told, but that was simply not the case for me. I gave myself the same amount of extra time with the MGMAT CATs as I got on the real GMAT - 50% extra time in each section.

I'm clueless.

Why not use the GMATPrep test and put their timer on pause for the amount of extra time you get? Then set a stop watch to go off when the extra time is up, at which point you start the GMATPrep timer.

I'm not sure if GMATPrep allows you to answer questions while it's on pause, so this might not be too feasible. But it's definitely worth a try as GMATPrep is probably a better practice test to take.

sorry to hear your score. it sounds like you put in a ton of hard work. maybe you just are having tough test days. it happens to everyone. The number one thing if you are going to re-take it is do NOT let the test get to your head. Just because you scored in the 500s twice, does not mean it will happen again.

Are you applying for Fall 08 or Fall 09?
