Thanks everyone.

Maverick, When I got the 650 and analysed my tests I saw that i have done a lot of silly mistakes. I categorised the kind of silly mistakes into reading too fast, misinterpretting, calculation mistakes, not using my scratch pad or work area properly etc. I also looked at the type of problems where I am making these mistakes. Then I came up strategies on how I am going to deal each kind. I picked sample problems from this forum; i think people post problems primarily when they are a bit tough; so the samples were very good. Copied these into a word doc, used the Timer sheet that's posted in the forum. And then took a series sample tests of 10-15 questions. After 2-3 days of this ( about 10 hrs) I gave the next CAT and got a 700. My mistakes reduced big time; i was still making atleast 4-5 silly ones in Quant and 3-4 in Verbal but this time it was more of the tougher questions. Thats still progress because your score goes up with the level of toughness.

I was thrilled at the progress and I was happy that I was not throwing away points to carelessness.

Starman,

Thanks for sharing that. :)

I do make those kind of mistakes too. Not reading the whole statements, quickly making choices and not paying attention.

Well, good luck on your applications. Where do you plan to apply? and do you plan to apply for 2008?
