So I've been studying kind of on and off, ever since January and decided to take my first attempt on one of the prep tests (an older version, too). I made the testing environment to be as realistic as possible. But before that a little bit on my background so you guys know where I'm coming from.
I'm 22 years old, got a BBA from one of the top universities in my country (I live in the Dominican Republic), graduated with a 3.6 GPA. I'm trying to get a scholarship from the government so I can go to the states to get a MSF (thinking about Baruch's). I'm aiming for a 600+ on the GMAT.
About my educational background, I'm quite rusted on Quantitative, math's not really my strong point, but to my advantage I'm not scared of numbers so I can learn quite fast. I'm more of a Verbal person, but as you can see form my score, I may have underestimated it. English is not my native language and I learned it on my own.
I think my main problem on this practice test was timing, specially on the verbal section. I finished with 17 minutes left, because I started rushing questions on mid-section. Maybe with a bit of efficient time management I can bump my verbal score up to 30ish.
What percentile score per section do you need in order to fall into the 600s? Q? V? 40 each?
I suppose that on verbal I need the most help on SC, then CR and finally manage better my timing on RC passages. Any tips?
For Quantitative I'm lacking in rate, time & distance questions and coordinate questions. I have improved heaps on my algebra. Tips?
Oh yeah, I've been studying with a particular tutor, but I think his job has been done already. I've used a Kaplan book for most of my studying but have started with the powerprep ones, which seem more spot-on IMO.
Cheers,
