Hi,
I have 2+ years of experience in IT field. I want to start MBA, but i dont know when academic term starts in B-school and when GMAT exam is arraged? Is there any perticular time period in which once can take GMAT??? And which one whould be earliest academic term starting for MBA in US?
Please help me out, I really dont have much information about GMAT. Before this I never thought of studying further. But, now i am really serious.

In general, bschool starts in the fall. Applications begin the previous fall. There are various rounds, but as most people will say, you should apply as soon as possible (round 1). In order to do that, it is best to get the gmat out of the way some time in the spring the year before you wish to attend (about 1.5 yrs earlier). It's even better to get the gmat out of the way early, then you can visit the schools that you wish to attend in the spring semester. Here's a quick timeline:
09/2009 attend classes
01/2009 receive acceptance package
09/2008 submit application
06-08/2008 brainstorm for essays
05/2008 GMAT
Yes, it's a long process.
The GMAT is administered everyday. However, you have to wait 30 days before you can re-take the test. Also, time slots are not always available, so reserve early.
Finally, good luck. It's an arduous process.

I'm in a similar situation to yours. I'm an IT guy, just took the GMAT to get into B-school (although I'm going for a Master's in MIS, not an MBA).
For my school, the application deadline is June 1 for admission into this fall's term--so some schools let you cut it close.
Your GMAT scores are good for five years, so it's okay if there's a delay between the time you take the test and the time you apply for school. But you'll want to give yourself as much time as possible to study. When figuring out when to take my GMAT, I looked at the June 1 deadline, then counted 20 days back from that since it can take 20 days for your school to get your results. So I took mine on May 3.
Keep in mind that your testing center will have a limited number of seats available, so be sure to schedule your test as far in advance as you can. As soon as you figure out when you want to take the test, go online and reserve a seat.
