Congratulations! One question though, did you really receive analysis of issue before the argument? I though argument always comes first.

So I just finished the GMAT this morning and boy am I relieved to be done!! Although now that the excitement has worn off, I can't help but think what if? What if I got one more V or Q question correct? Well, I am VERY HAPPY with my score for the moment and really prefer never to have to take that test again. So here's my story:

I started studying about the middle of February, so about 3 months of total prep time. I studied 6-7 days a week for 2-3 hours on weekdays and 5-8 hours on weekends. I used the following books to study:

1. PR Cracking the GMAT - helpful as a starter book and good for an introduction before the OG, also great AWA review
2. OG 11, OG Verbal, OG Quant - Best practice material by far
3. Kaplan 800 - Not as helpful as I was hoping, but probably worth the money. I used their RC strategies and went through the quant section twice
4. MGMAT SC - great resource for SC, I would recommend highly, although I don't know how well I ever learned SC, never a strong point
5. GMAT Challenges - absolute best decision I made, I really think they are the reason I got a 48 in Quant. They challenge you every question and really reinforce the basics

I took a free PR CAT and Kaplan CAT in the beginning and then GMAT Prep 1. Then I took MGMAT Cat and GMAT Prep 1 and 2. Obviously GMAT Prep is the best indicator of your actual score. It proved pretty accurate for me. Here were my scores:

Kaplan Cat: (650)
GMAT Prep 1: (690, Q45, V39)
MGMAT 1: (640, Q42, V36)
GMAT Prep 1 (Retake): (710, Q46, V41) - Lots of V repeats
GMAT Prep 2: (680, Q48, V35)

My last practice test I knew was an off day because I missed 4 of the last 5 verbal questions, just tired. I knew I was right around 700. I also took 15 GMAT Challenges, which were tremendously helpful. My scores were as follows:

m01 26 36 72.2% 63.0%
m02 25 36 69.4% 36.3%
m03 23 37 62.2% 44.8%
m04 25 37 67.6% 55.3%
m05 24 37 64.9% 57.9%
m06 31 36 86.1% 93.1%
m07 25 37 67.6% 66.7%
m08 18 37 48.6% 45.5%
m09 25 37 67.6% 59.3%
m10 24 37 64.9% 51.3%
m11 25 37 67.6% 56.7%
m12 22 37 59.5% 26.7%
m13 24 37 64.9% 32.0%
m14 26 37 70.3% 72.7%
m15 21 37 56.8% 41.7%

The last week of my prep I took GMAt Prep 2 on Tuesday and just reviewed my error log on SC and CR. I also went over every one of the GMAT Club Challenges that I took to make sure I could do just about any problem.

Night Before:
I decided I needed to relax, so I left work early on Friday and went to play 9 holes of golf. This worked pretty well to keep my mind off of the GMAT, although I still found my self thinking about exponents on the 4th tee. I decided I needed carbs for dinner in order to give me maximum energy the next day - so I had spaghetti. I figured a runner would load up on carbs before a race, so then I should as well. When I got home, I reviewed AWA for about an hour or so, just so it would be fresh in my mind the next morning. Went to bed about 9:30 and proceeded to wake up 3 times at 1, 3, and 5. Not exactly a wonderful night's rest.

Test Day:
Got up at 5:45 and did 15 minutes on the treadmill to get the blood flowing. I had gotten up at 6:00am all week in order to condition my body for the early morning. I think this really helped. Took a shower and did 10-12 pre-selected OG problems, a couple of each discipline before heading out the door. Arrived at the test center at 7:30 and there was a line outside the door. Oh great, the lady that runs the center is late!! I'm screwed!! Well, I was wrong, they were already there and just not letting anyone in until 7:45. After the Fort Knox initial screening, I sat down at my computer at about 8:15. To be honest, I was so nervous for the test my hands wouldn't stop shaking uncontrollably. I had so much trouble typing the Analysis of an Issue essay that I actually thought aboutgetting up and leaving!!! By the end of the essay I had calmed down and was ready for the Arguement essay. It was a little bit more difficult, but nothing my PR template couldn't handle. I did mess up a little in referencing the point I was arguing against, but I had time to fix it at the end. However, if I got a 710 on the real test and then get a 4 on the AWA, I will be real pissed!!!

After AWA I took my first break and went to the restroom, ate half of my energy bar, took a few sips of water and then headed back in. I sat down and started Quant. Uh, oh, no idea how to solve the first question!!! Completely stumped me. Luckily, I had read several posters on this forum that ran into the same problem, so I didn't take but 5 minutes instead of 10+ like they did, and I just clicked E and moved on. The rest of Quant, to be honest was tough. Maybe it was just that the first question threw me, but I thought I did horribly. In the end I didn't do badly at all, but I thought it was all over after that first question. I finished Quant with a minute to go. Took my second break, bathroom, cold water on my face, a couple of bites of my energy bar and headed back in for Verbal. Verbal didn't seem so bad, the 2nd RC was long but not too complicated. The 3rd RC was not too long, but seemed like nothing but drivle. I finished with a minute to spare and clicked through the end questions. To be honest, even though I thought I had blown Quant, I never thought about cancelling my score. Not knowing was worse then getting a bad score to me. I kept praying and when the score finally came I almost yelped. 710!!!!! Yes!!!!!! I raised my hand and the lady congratulated me for my score. I grabbed the print out and couldn't get the smile off my face!!! I'm done!!!!

I just want to thank everyone on this board for being as wonderful as you all have been. I know I couldn't have done this all by myself, it's just too tough. There were several people who really helped above all others, Meddling, BSD_Lover, Walker, gmatnub, and ventivish, as well as many others!!! It's easy to see why this board ends up with so many people getting into the finest B-Schools in the world, it has the best people in the world!!! Thanks again to all of the other people that helped me by answering questions and providing encouragement along the way.

My advice: GMAT Challenges, all 25 and review every problem and make sure you can do it backwards and forwards. You will have no problem on Quant if you can do that.

Good luck to everyone still left to take it, I think I'm done!!!

JB, Please forgive if this appears to you as a stupid question. Can you please tell me what each column in your listion for GMAT challenges indicate?

m01 26 36 72.2% 63.0%
example 26 - verbal score, 36 -math score , 72 -total , 63 -percentile ?
