hi, i came across this site about 2 months ago when i decided to study for the test, aalthough i didn't spend much time on the site, i'd go thru a coupla posts of those who had taken the test to see what i could expect, and it did help. i knew which books to buy and study from at this site, thanks.
i also found out that u really do need 2 months or more to prep for the test, which was what i had in mind, 'cept, at the beginning i had to visit and stay with my parents, who are outside the country, all the travel plans took up about 1 week of my time, and then once i got to their place, i injured my back and was in bed for 3 weeks, so there went 1 month down the drain.
i then took a dt and got 600, i was able to go thru kaplan and went thru the ques that were most frequent (according to the site) near the time of my test and ended up getting a 600 for the gmat as well. i'm not dissapointed, coz that's all the effort i put in for prep.
i got 1 probability ques, 2 permutation and combinations, and 1 parabola, and almost all the ques were indeed word problems, which was time consuming. i ended up with a 44 on the quant sect.
verbal was going quite well, or so i thought, got 4 rc, and about 7-10 sc and cr ques each, and i ended up with a 28 on the verbal!! which shocked the living daylights out of me, especially since english was one of my mains.
for the quant sect i think u can afford to go thru just maybe 1 or 2 books, but for verbal i suggest u keep ur options open and grab hold of any books that come ur way and just keep practicing the questions!
sorry, i'm going on for a bit, aren't i? but thanks alot to the people who keep the posts coming in!
.....a week ago i read a post about chances of getting into particular universitites based on ur ethnicity, i'm female and indian too, i remember someone saying something regarding that, could u please let me know what that was about? thanks!
