Hi All:

I gave GMAT today and scored a modest 710 (Q50 V35).

Preparation Material :
OG 11 , OG green , purple (it is must for verbal, not so much of help for Maths)
Kaplan 800 (good book for verbal)
Manhattan SC (must for start , but should depend on OG for last days)

Preparation time: 4 months

CATS :

GMATPREP 1 (1) 640
MGMAT 1 680
MGMAT 2 640
MGMAT 3 680
PowerPrep 1 670
GMATPREP 1 (2) 690
MGMAT 4 700
MGMAT 5 730
GMATPREP 1 (3) 750
KAPLAN 580 (Q50 , V27)
Power prep 2 (730 Q50 V41) ,
MGMAT-6 700 (Q51 V 35)
GMAT-PREP-2 720( Quant 50 ,Verbal 38)

I am not sure whether it is a good score or should I give another shot at the GMAT.
I am sure I can score much better on Verbal side as I made most of the mistake in last 10 Q's when I became very nervous.

I will be happy to answer any questions anyone has.


Is 710 good enough for top colleges. My primary target is INSEAD.

Abhay. it is an awesome score. Your score pretty good to go for any bschool in world. if you can beef up your extracurricular activities and resume then you should not have any problem.
How tough was the quant? Was it even tougher than the last 50 questions in OG-11? If yes, then I am in trouble. Man I am having difficulty in the last 50 questions in OG-11 and if it is tougher than that then I have no idea how to nail it.
Would appreciate your suggestions

Congratulations on the excellent score. One of my friend's friend got into INSEAD with 690. So you should no problems in getting admit (assuming decent essays and other stuff).

How was the difficulty level of questions when compared to GMATPREP?

I have 4 good friends who graduated INSEAD this year and the year before. The two girls got in with mid 600s and the two guys got in with a 730 (Round 3), and a 740 for Winter matriculation.

I think you're fine. Your Quant is stellar. Your Verbal not so much comparatively, but for a school like INSEAD, I don't think they would be so strict on the Verbal scores as much as other schools because English is not the first language of many, if not most, of their students. Just write good essays.

Thanks for encouraging words. I have around 9 years of experience but most of it is in IT Only recently I have moved on operations side and currently working with one of the top global banks. I hope that helps. I have enough international exposure . I am in singapore for last 6 years. Lets see what happens.

Difficulty level of GMAT Verbal is easier than GMAT prep. Maths is little tougher than GMAT prep.
Can you PM me contacts of your friend ? I will like to contact and take his advise on Apps.

Quant is little tougher than last 50 ques of OG. It is most in line with toughness level of Diognostic test of OG. You may try to do 24 gmatclub maths test. this will definiteky help.

Congratulations, you scored well. I think that you will not have problems with INSEAD. I know someone who was admitted at Harvard with 720, so your score will be good enough for INSEAD. You need good essays and good advices for your application. How you obtained that score in Quant? Good luck
