I have heard that the new Quant focus test offered by official site is good. And the scoring algorithm is also pretty accurate. However I cant give my word as I have never subscribed to those tests. In future if I see no improvement in my quant then I might go for it.

But are MGMAT tests close to actual GMAT. I assume the test on MBA.com (not the one on GMAT prep) will be close due to their source.

MGMAT tests are harder than the real thing, so keep that in mind when you take them. GMATPrep is the most accurate.

I think MGMAT tests are not only harder but on some stuff like CR can actually hurt your confidence with some fuzzy logic.

GMAT Prep is the way to go. And GMAT Focus is very good but expensive for very few questions.

Not to say MGMAT is not good practice, just don't think too much about the score, I think.

Everyone says MGMAT is harder and the math questions can involve more steps than you have time to solve, but if you're ready for harder stuff, it could be worthwhile. GMATPrep is definitely the most accurate, followed by Princeton Review. They have one free test on their site (www.princetonreview.com) and you get four more if you buy Cracking the GMAT with the DVD. That book was a goldmine for me. It had the best write-up on the test itself and some pretty useful strategies. You need a strategy book along with practice tests.

Are you also buying the OG? Official Guide 11th edition...it's a must for untimed practice questions!!

I am not sure that most people would agree with your statements above about Princeton Review. They have, it seems, the lowest ranking of the big GMAT Prep Co's. I can't say anything either way since I haven't used them, but I will not use their material given the low regard that intelligent consumers have of them. That's just my opinion, of course, but I tend to go for the material that will give me the greatest ROI (my input being time and money, and expected output being a great score).

Hi,
I just did a practice exam from MGMAT and MBA.com
My score was somewhat similar between the two.
GMATPrep: 710(Q49 V37)
MGMAT 700(Q44 V40)

I found the Math to be pretty tough on the MGMAT compared to GMATPrep. The steps to get the right answer would take more than 2 -4 mins. Not sure if you have had the same experience. I have been scoring V37 in previous MGMAT exams so I would say the verbal is somewhat comparable. The Quant score was definitely discouraging.
I am told to add 5% to my MGMAT score however I am wary of doing this as I do not want to get a false sense of security before my exam. These are just my thoughts.

Both of those scores are great and you should certainly be capable of breaking 700 on the real thing. Practice your timing and you should be good to go.
