Hi,
Just came back from taking GMAT, and I ran out of time in both V and Q. Bummed out due to it.
I guessed at random last 3 problems that looked easy on the surface in Quant, and last 4 problems in Verbal in the last few remaining seconds.

I got a 730 with 49 Q, 40 V, but I was doing better on gmatprep (760).

Any ideas how much running out of time made my score lower at the end......


I am aiming high (probably deludedly so) at just top schools, and other than a top-undergrad school outside US, I dont have any distinguishing factor. I thought a great score in GMAT will give me the edge that I needed.

Is retaking worth the hassle at this score?

No I wouldn't bother retaking the GMAT. A marginal increase in your score prob won't benefit you much

you should spend time on essays or in extra-currics. putting together an outstanding set of essays will do you more good than spending that same amount of time trying to get an extra 30 points.

What are your plans? Are you trying to get applications in for Round II? Or are you applying next year?

I have been hoping to get my apps in for round II but as the deadlines near (about 8-9 days left now), I have nothing done yet except GMAT that I took today. I have thought a bit about essays but nothing more.

People who have experience can they please tell if it still doable or am I deluding myself that I could still do make to round 2? Does round 3 instead of 2 diminish ones chances profoundly?

Round III is much more competitive. Average acceptance rates for the Top-10 is under 2% (as opposed to Round I which is over 10%).
