You can't use percentage of questions right/wrong from the og, as the questions are in an increasing order of difficulty...

Did you do the diagnostic test in the OG? For what it's worth my scores were: PS 19, DS 19, RC 15, CR 17, and SC 14.

I took GMATprep1 about 3 days later and scored 700 (Q44 V41). From other posts I think the diagnostic questions are supposed to be harder than the rest of the OG questions. Still not a CAT.......

Ok, let us think about this for a second: In Q section of the diagnostic test you get two sections (PS+DS) with each having 24 question. So according to your reply you've got 10 questions wrong in the diagnostic test. I know that GMAT is an adaptive test, but what I am trying to find out is that if your score on Q section is 44 (raw score), does it mean you have approximately 10 mistakes? I know it might sound weird to you but I am just wondering since I still have no experience. Naturally, since 44 is a great raw score it would mean that you've got almost all the question in the beginning correct. So basically, you can make a lot of mistakes on harder question but cannot afford to make any mistakes in the beginning

What do you guys think of this theory?

p.s. bb thanks for your info

I wouldn't try to scale it against an actual CAT score. Just saying I did pretty good on the paper diagnostic test at the start, and had a pretty good GMATprep test about the same time. It's just a rough benchmark.

I'd go ahead and take the GMATprep test to see where you are really at so you can focus your efforts.

jjohvan I strong suggest doing gmat prep1 - it is the only true way of understanding where you are at in regards to the actual. my advice to all gmatter is that you should be doing doing gmatprep 1 & 2, three timess. You will forget the questions after a few weeks of doing other questions.

OG diagonistic and GMAT prep have different purposes, also i dont think that OG diag's question actually represent the vast variety of questions a GMAT prep or actual GMAT have in bank to fire. So i will rate GMAT prep as only way to gauge your score and not to get too upset or too happy with any other score.
