results of GMAT: 740 (Q 42 V 49)

Question

Hello! I just wanted to thank the GMATclub forum for all the great posts about GMAT questions. I just took the test yesterday and got a 740. Even though it didn't quite reach my goal, I'm still thankful for my score, and happy that I don't have to retake it!

I prepped for two months, studying after work during the week and over the weekends, using the Manhattan guides, the 11th edition of the OG, OG-V, OG-Q, and looking through questions posted on this forum. Reviewing the math concepts from the Manhattan study guides, then practicing with the actual questions from the OG books was pretty helpful. Thanks again and good luck to everyone who's taking the test soon!

SICK verbal score, what is your academic background? Any tips for verbal? Actually any tips for quant? I was in the mid 30s right now, how can I improve to atleast 40s?

Hi guys- I went to a liberal arts college and majored in history, so verbal always came pretty naturally to me. Reading comprehension has never been a problem, so I just did some practice questions for that. For the other two sections, I put more time into it b/c I had to figure out what the the test creators were looking for, but I took the same approach. I kept solving verbal questions and going over the questions I got wrong to review what I was missing. Once I figured that out, the questions came to me pretty easily.
