In my opinion, INstead of starting out with boring journals and other GMAT material first, try to read material that you are interested in first and imprvoe your concentration with that material. If you love reading spy novels, try to read them all the time. After reading like 20-30 pages stop for a bit and try to recollect what you have read and ask yourself questions on the content. The key here is to try and retain what you have read for about 10 mins or so. And read regularly and often. Read while you are in front of the TV, read in the restroom etc.

Once you feel comfy with material you like then move on to dry material and GMAT like material and apply the principles that you have learnt from the previous exercise. I hope this helps with your concentration issues
