ankur17,

Im going to barnes and noble tomorrow morning and buying "the great gatsby". Im going to regulary read everyday from now on.

Frankly this is not going to help improve your reading comprehension. Though it will give you a good appreciation of literature and will perhaps kickstart your reading habit.

You can improve your reading comprehension skills for the GMAT by critically reading (what's the author's point of view, change of thought, examples etc.) articles from the Economist, Scientific American, Wall Street Journal etc. Articles from these magazines/journals/papers are generally edited by GMAT writers for the reading comprehension section.

Now give me a kudo :-D

+1 Heres your kudo :)

No I think it will help my RC. I read the book for 2 hrs yesterday, finished the 1st chapter, learnt more than 50 new words ( contemptuous, disdain, scorn etc ), came across a lot of modifiers, idioms and usage of had. Then did an RC passage right after and I could see a difference. I wasnt getting lost after reading the 1st sentence.

@lalitha : IMHO the difficulty level was similar to gmatprep. My accuracy is 75-80% on all rc,cr and sc but not under timed environment. After reading a sentence I have to read atleast 2-3 times again. RC eats up all my time and I rush through questions.

ankur17,

Great! Whatever works for you. Different things motivate different people.

Also check out MGMAT SC. It's a great book not only for purposes of the GMAT but also as a refresher grammar book.
