Hjort,
I hope you can help me with this one. My boss wrote a very detailed letter on my background and my fit at Columbia, he touched on every question in the template but the letter is in free form format. Does he have to answer each question individually or can he just submit the letter? I read a chat on BW's forum and an admin officer at CBS said either is fine. If it is fine with CBS (or any other school) which is better?
I'm going to check with the school but was wondering your take on this.

I would let the letter stand as is. It sounds like it is a strong letter as currently written and I see little benefit from interrupting the flow of the author's praise to break it up into individually enumerated answers.
