Hey Hjort, again thanks for all the advice.
I just wanted to know if I should get a recommendation from a professor over a client. This professor has an MBA & PHD from an elite school (top 3 school) I am targeting and helped me with independent research in senior year. Will Prof make a good rec due to alumni connections or should I just go with the traditional 2 managers/clients approach?
Also, what is the difference between a CV and a regular resume? Someone told me that a CV is more academic and a resume is just a laundry list of job related facts. Any truth to this?

In the US, the term Curriculum Vitae usually refers to a longer, more detailed summary of one's accomplishments than a resume. Thus, a CV can occupy several pages (vs. just one or two for the resume). The US CV is usually seen in the context of academic or research based employment positions where a detailed list of one's publications, presentations, and academic awards etc. is especially relevant.
I certainly hope that one does not submit a laundry list of facts for a US style resume- since it is a short document, it needs to be tailored to the specific position.
