I'm not sure that I would say the rank is unfair- it is more an issue of maturity. Georgetown's MBA program was established less than 25 years ago (1981) so it is younger than even most of its applicants. Considering the fact that other schools had a head start of many decades, I think that Georgetown places quite well in some league tables. For instance, FT2003 and FT 2004 ranked it #17 worldwide- ahead of Elite cluster schools such as Michigan and UCLA.
McDonough resembles Yale SOM in that they are both young programs attached to universities with strong general reputations. They both seem to have some unevenness in terms of who recruits there from year to year.
It is certainly worth taking a look at Georgetown if you are considering other schools in the near elite and trans elite clusters. Georgetown is an especially strong choice in these clusters if you are interested in taking part in one of its joint degrees.
