Hi Hjort,

Need your valuable opinion!

Here is a quick profile of myself -
Industry - Information Technology (3.5 years exp)
Undergrad - equivalent to 3.7 GPA
GMAT - 710 (Q47 V42)
Others - I have 2 years of international experience (in US)

I want to specialize (MBA) in Management Information Systems (MIS) and am looking at Canidian business schools. Schulich is on top of my list. Here are my questions -
1. How good is this program in Schulich and elsewhere (Rotman, Ivey...).
2. Is there any other school that I can explore. Any thoughts...?

U of british Columbia. No I didn't!
I saw Rotman, York and Ivey at the top of Canadian list. Just not sure where should I focus more - Overall ranking/reputation or at the program level in each school!
I am also interested in good job opportunities coming out of MBA. In such a case, doesn't school reputation and ranking matter more. I mean chances of getting a job are better in these three than elsewhere, right?
Would like to get your view on this.

I strongly agree that ranking and reputation are important. However, I would give Sauder a closer look. It is often ranked as the #1 school in the Pacific Northwest and #5 in the entire Pacific region of North America.

Rankings were blinding me from lookin further beyond the other three. I checked the UBC website and it appears impressive. I shall definitely consider applying here too!

But can you also tell me how you rate this program (at the other 3 schools) and also my chances (in all 4)!

Based on the information provided, it looks like you would be a strong candidate for all four schools.

I am afraid that I have not had contact with enough MIS professionals trained in Canada to determine the relative strength of the Ivey, Rotman, and Schulich in this field.
