Hi Hjort,
Please evaluate my profile and let me know if you have any school suggestions.
29 year old Indian male; undergrad from an OK school in India; 3rd in
class of 35 with 70%.; 740 gmat (95-Q, 93-V): 8.5 years of experience
in IT and Telecom Worked in India for 3.5 years and the rest in USA.
Currently working for a mid size telecom company in a research
department that looks at technology problems that might be relevant 5
to 10 years down the lane. have 5 pending patents. Prior to that worked in Software Development for some big name telecom companies in India.
I am also working part time on my masters from CMU and plan to
complete it by May next year. GPA is 3.56/4.33.
With my part time masters and full time work I do not get a lot of
time to do anything else other than writing checks to two causes I
believe in. I was elected vice president at school for a student body
of around 150 students.
Goals: I would like to return to India after a couple of years after my MBA. Short term I would like to work in corporate strategy/product
planning roles in a multinational IT company (Ex: Microsoft) . Long
term: Start my own company
What are my chances at W and INSEAD? Do you have any other school suggestions?

It sounds like you have most of the basics covered for the ultra elite cluster. As you have noted, one weakness is the lack of community service or extracurricular activities.
I would actively consider all of the US ultra elites as well as the top cluster schools in Europe (e.g. IMD, LBS, IESE). I would give particular attention to Northwestern, MIT, and Stanford. I would also look at some elites in the US such as Michigan.
