There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I am not sure if this is a theoretical question or directed at a specific school, but I would not worry about the difference between submtting (say) four weeks before the R2 deadline and submitting two weeks before the R2 deadline. On the other hand, once the application is done and reviewed carefully I see little point in holding on to it.
