So here's a slightly different profile than most on this forum:
27 yr old
4 year Navy officer flying F-18 Hornets
8 months work experience at Arthur Andersen (until it imploded in the wake of the Enron scandal)
3.6 GPA in accounting from the University of Houston (mediocre school)
710 GMAT
I'll be applying to Dartmouth, Harvard, Columbia and U of Texas... what I'm curious about is whether any of these schools, or any schools in general for that matter, look more favorably upon military experience. Does anyone know any former military (especially Navy pilots) in any of these or other programs? Any guess at what admissions committee will think of this experience and these scores? Thanks

I've met a number of USN aviators at major business schools (some fixed-wing pilots, some helicopter pilots, some NFOs). The leadership experiences tend to be very valuable for interviews and essays. Questions about how you would handle "high pressure" situations should be very easy.
The major issue that I have encountered with military MBA candidates (especially those with little experience outside the military) is "translating" their experiences into the terms and categories of the application.

I'm an EP-3 NFO applying to the PT program at Maryland. Took orders to NAVAIR in Patuxent River, MD, where I'll work acquisitions and contract management for my aircraft.

GPA: 3.3 (Operations Mgt/Info Systems)
GMAT: 500
Concered with GMAT score. Have good leadership background, combat experience, awards, top performance ranking. Can't seem to crack the exam. UMD GMAT range for PT is 550-650. 60% admission rate for PT too. Retake?
