Hi hjort,
Firstly i would like to thank you for all the great advice you give candidates like me. I took the gmat today and scored 640. I currently have 3.5 yrs work experience - 3 years at AOL, in the call center. I was a team leader for the last year and a half. I turned entrepreneur in Jan of 05 and joined my company full time (a placement consultancy firm) in August. My performance in my Engineering (telecommunications) is not that great. (got 63%)
the reason i have given such a detailed profile is because i want to know if my score is good enough to get me through at UNC, chapel hill, Texas A&M U or Jones, Texas. I am not certain if retaking the test will guarantee a higher score.
If you dont think that score is good enough, are there other unis you can direct me to?
Do let me know...
I am new to this forum and would appreciate your help. I recently took the GMAT and did not do well, I got 590. I am interested in applying to UT Austin, this will be the only school I will be applying.
I actually prepared well for the GMAT and my goal was to get about 720. I have 5 years of work exp. and I also have a Bachelors and Masters in Chemical Engg. Now I am confused if I should retake the GMAT. I am pretty confident that I will get a better score than this. I actually prepared well for the test, I got very busy at work and could not concentrate towards the end.
As the GMAT score will be the only weak aspect of my application, I am tempted to apply with this score. I have a good undergrad and masters GPA and I will work hard on other areas of my application. Please let me know what you think about me retaking the GMAT. I don't want to redo it unless I really have to do it.
Thanks for your help.[/quote]
