Please evaluate my chances

Question

Hi,

If you could please evaluate my profile, I would appreciate it.

Age: 28 - Indian Female
I just took my GMAT and scored 680 (90%)
V-35 (77%) and Q-48(86%)

I have a B.Com undergraduate, and an MBA in Marketing from India. My experience is as a Senior Manager in banking, overseeing personal loans for small and medium business enterprises for almost 4 yesr now in a reputed financial institution in India.

My recommendations will come from the dean of my MBA school and the VP at work, and both will be very impressive recommendations.

I am planning on doing my MBA in finance, will that negatively affect my application since I did my MBA in India in Marketing.

I am applying to the following universities.

1. Rochester
2. Indiana - Kelley
3. Vanderbilt
4. University of Iowa - Tippie

What are my chances at these universities. Should I also any other schools?

What is the official name of your graduate degree? Was it a general managment curriculum?

My undergraduate was Bachelors of Commerce - 3 year program. 

And the graduate degree was a Master in Management Studies (MMS), with a specialization in Marketing. The MMS degree was a 2 year program.

You might be ineligible to attend some of the schools you mentioned as a result of your MMS.

No, Vanderbilt does not admit applicants seeking a second MBA degree or a similar graduate management degree, regardless of where the first was obtained. Exempt from this policy are graduate management degrees that were earned at a college or university outside the U.S. in order to satisfy the four-year U.S. bachelorâ€™s degree requirement. Also exempt are masterâ€™s degrees that focus on a specific functional area of business (such as accounting, finance, or management information systems) and do not offer a broad general management curriculum typical of the MBA degree."

This says, "Exempt from this policy are graduate management degrees that were earned at a college or university outside the U.S. in order to satisfy the four-year U.S. bachelorâ€™s degree requirement."

I think this means I am eligible to apply, since my undergraduate was a 3 year program in India, and without the MMS degree, I would not be able to satisfy the four-year U.S. bachelorâ€™s degree requirement.

Please let me know your thoughts on this. I will also get in touch with all the schools I am planning to apply to, and find out where I stand.

Yes, I agree with your reading of the Vanderbilt policy. I figured that you were already aware that some schools restricted access to second MBAs but I thought it would be worth mentioning anyway. Note that even schools that allow second MBAs generally want a convincing justification for why you need a "duplicate" degree. 

Otherwise, you sound like a strong candidate for the Near Elites and certainly the NEF schools. Depending on the story you build in your LORs and essays, I would take a closer look at adding some TransElites and Elites into your portfolio.
