Hi,
I have an advanced degree in Microbiology from India ( Graduated in 1985). I am now working at a Biotech company and seriously considering admission to a MBA program. I have been going to various universities to look at the pre-requisites and invariably, the following seem to be a common need. Background in finance, marketing, accounting. Are these pre-requisites really necessary?
I do not have a background in either finance/accounting and wondering if it would be advisable to seek a MBA admission or pursue a BBA and acquire the necessary skills without going through the hassles of admission to a full MBA program. Any help or suggestion would be highly appreciated.

No, it is not necessary to have a background in finance or accounting to pursue an MBA. Many MBA students come from natural sciences, engineering, and humanities backgrounds with little academic training in business.
