I would like the help of fellow members and of Hjort of course :wink:
I am interested in a move to a new Consulting Career, I have no prior experience in it. If I have the choice (dreamcase), wichi school would you consider ? Tuck or Wharton

I am only speaking in terms of placement, network, fame, ...
I am already fully aware of the main differences of those programs but I would like your opinions.

Wharton wins in terms of fame/prestige.

For environment, the schools are the exact opposite. Tuck is in a very rural area, whereas Wharton is in a very urban area.

Given the opportunity, I would go to Wharton. Wharton has more networking opportunities and it is located about 40 miles from my undergrad school.

Yeah I know, actually I am more attracted by a smaller school, which doesn't mean the school is less strong. Moreover for consulting you have also to imagoine that in Wharton I will face 900 other potential cadidates whereas in Tuck there will be only 250 of them, I think that when companies come on campus it's also important....Moreover I have doubts on the aibility of Wharton to help for a Career shift. I am not sure about this. Whereas it has definitely be done and proven doable in Tuck before.

Any opinions on this ?

The general answer is Penn/Wharton. It has stronger placements, a more extensive alumni network, and a more central location. For some candidates Dartmouth might make more sense (e.g. prefer a more initmate, secluded atmosphere; prefer boutique consulting firms , prefer placements in the Boston metro).
