Hi Hjort and anyone wishing to contribute,
I am writing my application essays for admission to a Masters of Science in Finance program. Should the essay be tailored more to the tune of a desire to study at an advanced level perform research or more toward the goal of professional advancement? Are MS admissions folks receptive to non-academic oriented people?
Please let me know if this doesn't make sense and I'll attempt to clarify!

I would treat the MS Finance as a rigorous terminal degree (although some students continue their education beyond the MS Finance). These schools are certainly receptive to people who are preparing themselves for careers in the for profit sector.

Thank you for your response.
I finished the first essay but the app offers an optional second which basically asks the applicant to include "any additional information about yourself that is not covered elsewhere in this application but that you feel is relevant..."
Should I use this opportunity to address weaknesses such as a below average undergrad GPA or should I stress positive attriubutes? Or, should I opt to not complete this essay?
