Hello Hjort,
I graduated with a 3.98/5.00 GPA (same as 2.98/4.0). Is it acceptable to round up to a 4.0/5.0(3.0/4.0) on an application?
And now to my profile:
Undergrad: University of Illinois at Chicago
Double Major: Finance and Information and Decision Sciences
3.98/5.00 GPA
I have 4 years experience as an Underwriter in the Insurance industry, and I want an MBA to further enhance my knowledge of general management and Risk analysis. Possible options post MBA include management position in an Insurance company, or a Consulting position specializing in the insurance industry.
GMAT: 660, Q46 V35, AWA 5.0, plan to attend full-time Fall 2007. May take test again to break 700.
Short-list of schools include: Wharton(Risk Mgmt program) Chicago GSB, Kellogg, Wisconsin-Madison (Risk mgnt program), Notre Dame, Indiana-Kelley, Purdue-Krannert.
What are my chances with these schools? Is it necesary to re-take the GMAT?

Hi,
I like the set of schools- a mix of NEF, NE, and ultra elite schools. I would take a look at some elite and transelite schools to add to the mix as well.
1. I do not think it is a good idea to round up the GPA unless you are asked to do so (e.g. you are instructed to round your GPA to the nearest tenth). Other consultants disagree with me on this so you can certainly find support for the opposite point of view.
2. It is not necessary to re-take but you might want to post a higher score for the more selective schools.

Thanks Hjort, I'm just going to play it safe and stick with the 3.98/5.00. I'm also going to take a look at Carnegie-Mellon and Michigan-Ross as options. I'm mainly looking at schools in or near the midwest as I want to work in Chicago Post-mba.
