HI,
I just wanted to guage my chances at a top MBA program (Harvard, UPenn, MIT, Stanford, Kellog, Chicago). Also, any advice on what I could do to better my chances would be very helpful.
I went to a top 20 school and have a GPA of a little over 3.0 with a double major in Finance & Economics. I've had three years of work experience, 2 at a hedge fund and one at a bulge bracket investment bank doing middle office risk.
My GMAT score if 750

Some things that would be useful:
1) Actively think over your long and short term goals
2) Identify people who can write strong LORs for you. If no one can do this at the present time, cultivate relationships and document your contributions so that you can find these people who will vouch for your abilities.
3) Seek out people who are graduates of the schools you are considering, seek their advice and input. If you are lucky, you will find allies in your quest.
4) Make certain that you are involved in extracurricular activities/social contribution activities.

From what I hear HBS wants either the perfect applicant (your GPA would be tough to overcome) or a college drop out who walked the president's dog!
I hear Wharton/CBS are big on high gmat scores....
Look into the "alternative transcript", mentioned all over the various forums and internet to help you overcome your low GPA.....and take the gmat asap! Get it over with fast, you'll feel better!!!
