Hi
I was a part of a similar system and ended up getting 8.2 on a 10 scale. Honestly, I dont know how much the topper scored. Is it a problem? Or can I just mention 8.2 in my app and let the school calculate my GPA.

Thanks in advance.

Any of the major MBA schools will know how to interpret your grades. Do you have any indication of your standing relative to the other students in your undergrad program?

hjort, thanks for responding on the GPA. I'm an Indian applicant from a university that doesnt calculate the GPA. If I calculate my GPA using the formula you described, I get a GPA of 3.36. However, schools such as Columbia have their own GP conversion table, which, to me seems flawed. Do you think I can calculate my GPA this way and write about it in my optional essay? Also, do you think adcom's pay impportance to some of the GPA conversion services ?

will appreciate any info that you might have. thanks.

I had not translated my %ge score to a GPA when I had applied. I put in my %ge score in the application. This did not cause me any trouble. I think in general, schools know to do the conversion from your transcripts/rank etc.

I wouldnt sweat on this too much. But, it might be a good idea to get second opinions since my comment applies only to NYU Stern.

In my experience with applicants this has not been a problem but I would be curious to hear any negative experiences. I would not discuss the issue on essays unless your school had a very unusual grading system.
