Question No 1:
I know that the american business schools tend to break down applicants into different groups i.e. international students, american citizens, american citizens but minorities etc. What abut USA permanent residents? I am originally not from USA but came to this country 10 years ago and in the mean process became permanent resident of USA (not citizen but permanent resident). Are admission committees going to place my application in international applicants’ group or is there going to be a separate permanent resident group? I know that Wharton shows permanent resident as a separate group in its upcoming class (7% of its 2007 class is comprised of permanent residents) but I have no idea about other business schools.
For the sake of discussion, let’s assume for a second that there is a separate permanent resident group in every business school. Does it mean that my application/gmat score will be evaluated against the applications submitted by all permanent residents?
Question No 2:
I have a master degree in civil engineering from a USA state school and my undergrad degree is from my original country. All of my transcripts from my undergrad school are in English and all the courses were taught using English text books. However, professors used to communicate in their native language +English. Am I supposed to take TOEFL again?
If all of my undergrad transcripts are in English, I have a master degree from USA, I have appeared in GMAT and I am working in USA for last 7 years for an engineering consulting firm, would that be enough for American business schools to waive the TOEFL requirement for me?
