I graduated Tufts in 03 with a BA in History. I received a 3.46 GPA overall and 3.66 in my major. I thought I would teach history and so I also got an MA in Education, graduating from that in 04 with a 3.54. I currently work for Fidelity Investments in brokerage. I want to get into equities research and passed CFA Level 1 in June. I took the GMAT back in the spring and score 650 42Q,38V. I just retook and was rather disappointed to do worse in quant but overall 680 39Q,44V. The overall score isn't bad, but of course I would have liked a higher score. I wonder if passing CFA Level 1 would demonstrate to b-school that I have the quantative skill to handle what I want to do? Went to a top undergrad, not a bad GPA, good career change story, and I certainly have need for an MBA. (Basically impossible to get into research with my current background) I was thinking about Yale, but their profile has gone up dramatically this last year. What schools do you think would be appropriate with my profile? I am a great writer and have some good leadership and impact on my organization stories. I also think I do a good job of showing progression and how the MBA fits logically into that progression.
Your suggestions for "relatively safe" and "reach but possibly appreciating someone of my profile" schools would be appreciated.

As a general rule, I do not give evaluations with respect to safety and reach schools. When it comes to admissions, I am a steadfast realitivist- I view candidates from the perspective of improving the chance of admissions rather than evaluating the absolute chance of admisssion.
Here is a basic EASDL evaluation-
Employment Risk: This seems reasonably strong based on what I have read and taking your representation at face value.
Academic Risk:
Undergrad
Institution: Strong school roughly transelite among undergrad institutions, substantial regional value
GPA: Reasonably strong, not a quant major
GMAT: Score in range for elite/transelite
Other: CFA LI a plus
Social Skills/Class Contribution/Social Communication Risk: Unknown but does not appear to be an issue
Demographic Risk: Background in history and strong writing ability differ from many candidates
Leadership Risk: Represented as good
Based on the known information, the apparent range would be Elite to Near Elite.
