I gave my GMAT on June 20th, my verbal score is less than what I used to get in my GMATPrep test, Q is as expected.
I am from India, residing in Bay Area, CA, working for Big IT company. I have 5 years of work experience.
I would like to thank this forum and its active members. I came to know about GMATClub during my last month, I found it very useful and encouraging.
I used
MGMAT books (apart from PR, Kaplan, GMATTER) for my preparation and these books are very useful.
This is my first post, just want to share my experience.
On GMAT day, everything went as planned except one thing.
I think, I did okay on AWA, I was able to review and complete my response in time.
Math section was tough but I felt that I was doing well and was very confident by the end of Quant Section.
I had some chocolate and drink and then came back for Verbal. During math section I did not hear any one talking and was not disturbed at all. Sad part was, for verbal the story was quite different. Next to me there was a guy, who as soon as the verbal section started, started reading loudly. I could clearly hear him and got distracted big time. After that I asked for ear bud, but even after using the ear bud I was feeling bit distracted and lost focus for first few minutes.
I would recommend that one should practice with headphone/ear buds to have better tolerance to such problems. I did not expect someone appearing for GMAT to read sentence loudly, in fact GMAT agreement directs you to not disturb anybody around you.
Now I feel that I should have used headphone, or at least talked to admin about this disturbance, but well its over now for me!
My GMATPrep scores were 730 and 750, so 700 is bit less than what I expected.
I am applying for top 10, and even though 700 is around average/median score for most of these schools, I am still not sure whether I should apply with this score or give GMAT again! (Math-95% Verbal-76% and Total 93%).
Got my AWA score today, it is 5.5.
Once again, thanks a lot to members of this forum for sharing their experience,
-Good luck,
Sid
