What is the value of integer k?

(1) k^2 < 16
(2) -60 < k^3 < -20

1) K^2 can be 1/ 4 / 9 ..... Insufficient

2) K^3 can only be -27 for integer k. --- sufficient

Given : k is an integer => k can be -I, 0, +I
To find: k

1) k^2 < 16
-4<k<4 Not Sufficient

2) -60 < k^3 < -20
Possible values/value for k = -3
as (-3)^3 = -27
Sufficient

Correct Answer= B

k is an integer. k=?

1) k^2 < 16
here, k maybe a positive or negative integer. Insufficient

2) -60 < k^3 < -20
k can only be (-3) by trial and error method of placing negative integers in place of k in this equation. Sufficient.

I) k^2<16

Means -4<k<4. No single value
Insufficient

II)-60<k^3<-20

K is negative as cube of number gives negative
Only value k=-3 qualifies for this case

Sufficient

B is answer

I put E as an answer because I thought at -3.5 could also be an answer since -3.5^2 < 16 And -3.5^3 is also smaller than -20....

Why does K have to even be an integer ?
