Question: What is \(x^2 - y^2\) ?
Recall that \(x^2 - y^2 = (x + y)(x - y)\)
(1)\( x + y = 2x\)
\(y = 2x - x\)
\(y = x\)
If \(x = y\), then \(x^2 - y^2 = x^2 - x^2 = 0 \)
Sufficient alone
(2) \(x – y = 0\)
\(x^2 - y^2 = (x + y)(x - y) = (x + y) * 0 = 0\)
Sufficient alone
