What was the number of roses produced by a certain rosebush during 1981?
Let, number of roses produced in 1980=x and 1981=y
y=?

(1) For each rose it produced during 1980, the rosebush produced 1.4 roses during 1981.
y=1.4x .....Many possibilities
Insufficient

(2) In 1981 the rosebush produced exactly 10 more roses than it produced the previous year.
y=x+10......Many possibilities
Insufficient

(1)&(2) 1.4x=x+10 ; x=25 and y=1.4*25=35
Sufficient

Roses in 1981

Option 1:
For x rose in 1980 it produces 1.4x in 1981. Not sufficient as we don't know x

Option 2:
1981 it produces 10 more roses than previous year 1980 but we don't know roses in 1980.

Option 1+2

1.4x-x=10
.4x=10
X=25 sufficient

Option C
