Set of all real numbers that are exactly 15 units away from -3

Implies that the set contains (-3-15) and (-3+15) as its elements.
So, x=-18 and -12
A. \(\left|x+3\right|=15\)
So, x+3=15 or -(x+3)=15
Or, x=12 , x+3=-15 or, x=-15-3=-18

Ans. (A)

15 units away from -3 = -3+15=12 and -3-15=-18

in A we have
x+3=15
x=12

and

-x-3=15
x=-18

A it is

-3 + 15 = 12 ( Positive side of line )
-3 - 15 = -18 ( Negative side of line )

Option A:
|x + 3| = 15

Case 1:
x + 3 = 15
x = 12

Case 2:
-x - 3 = 15
x = -18

Hence, A.
