Which of the following is closest to the area enclosed by a circular ring, if the distance around the outer edge of the ring is 44 feet?

A. 175 square feet
B. 155 square feet
C. 107 square feet
D. 49 square feet
E. 21 square feet

Distance of the outer edge of the circular ring=circumference of the circular ring =2*\(pi\)*r=44
Or, r=22/\(pi\)

So, area of the circular ring =\(\pi\)*\(\frac{22^2}{\pi^2}\)=155(Approx.)

Ans. (B)

\(2πr = 44\)

Or, \(2*\frac{22}{7}*r = 44\)

So, \(r = 7\)

Thus, The Area of the circle is \(πr^2 = \frac{22}{7}*7*7 = 154\), Thus Answer must be (B) 155

Since circumference = 2πr:

2πr = 44

πr = 22

r = 22/π

If we use 22/7 as the approximate value of π, we have r = 22/(22/7) = 7.

Since area = πr^2, the area is approximately (22/7)(7^2) = 22 x 7 = 154 , which is closest to 155 square feet.

2*PI*R=44

R=7.

7*7*22/7=154, aprox equi to 155,option B.

2*pi*r=44
So r=7
Hence pi*r*r =154which is approximately equal to choice B
