hi ross-

what i've heard/researched is that MBA and MS marketing are the flip side of each other.

MBA curriculum is breadth while MS marketing is depth.

MBA is a general management curriculum with a handful of marketing electives. MS marketing is a marketing curriculum with a handful of management (so you'd take finance, op, stats, org behav in this kind of program too).

i have a friend who graduated last dec from northwestern's IMC program (integrated marketing communications) and has her dream job thru omnicom's MBA rotational program. she is currently working a few months' stint in shanghai. of course, i should mention that her bachelor's is in finance.

pay is very good and of course varies according to your previous work exp. training is great. i visited IMC and the dean said that there are some folks at, say, kellogg who - if they knew about IMC - might find

might find that IMC (or a master's in marketing elsewhere) fits their career interests better.

all the alumni i have spoken to say the decision btw MBA vs. master's depends on what you want.
