2. GMAT/GRE score (even mocks help get an idea of your potential)

1. For your ORM of Indian, Male, Technology person, a GMAT of 705+ would put you in a safer range for your MBA programs list.
2. It is EQUALLY (if not MORE) important for you to ensure your application brings in a compelling narrative. An exceptional application could get you in even with 695, but a bad application may not get you in even with a 805
3. Given your post-MBA career goal, you have to understand threadbare (and sound convincing in your application) the HOW, WHY, and Why NOW would an MBA help you get to your goals.

For a male tech focused profile, a very over-represented pool, your GMAT score is not as competitive as it should be, especially since you’re mostly targeting M7 schools. The GPA is fine but when seeing the entire academic context, the GMAT score needs to be bumped if you want your foot in the door. Anywhere above 720 would be great.

As for your experience, you haven’t provided much context so without it would be difficult to give an insightful suggestion. The progression from PDM to PM is alright but would need to know about the companies you have worked at, scale of projects handled, the impact of your work, etc. Even your goals are not defined and ‘Tech Focus’ doesn’t really let us know your short-term and long-term ambition. As you’ve worked on your NYU Tech MBA app, you may realize how important it is to be specific about your goals and motivations.

What I find intriguing about your application is the online personal brand and event management. See, B-Schools don’t just see your scores and work ex (they are always the priority regardless), they also see your involvement outside of your work. If you can, emphasize what this personal brand is about, who it caters to, what problem it’s trying to solve, how much have you scaled it, if any revenue generated or social follows reached. The same goes for the networking events, how many of them have you organized, how many teams you coordinated, how many attended. These could make for some lovely essays.

Now coming to the choice of your program. Given that you’re currently studying accounting and plan on pursuing a PhD in the same, an MSBA won’t align with your plans. That’s more on the data analytics side of the things within business.

In fact, McCombs Accounting PhD does not require prior work ex but your undergrad focus is very relevant since it will be covering economics and core financial concepts. Although, it would be great if you have some research experience in business accounting as it will help you a lot with your SOP.

However, for ISB, LBS, INSEAD, and Yale SOM, a GMAT Focus score of 655–685+ is where you become truly competitive. Scoring below 640 could hurt you at LBS and INSEAD especially, given their quantitative focus. Hitting 680+ opens doors at all your target schools and significantly strengthens your overall application.

In terms of the work experience, the brands you've worked for make an impact; however, another key factor here would be including International experience that you have seeded from these roles.

This combination already signals intellectual horsepower, execution, and exposure to innovation ecosystems, which schools like INSEAD, London Business School, and Yale value. Your story (finance > strategy > VC > consulting) is credible, but it needs to be tightened into a clear arc around “building and scaling ventures/ecosystems.”

A 685+ FE score shall help you with good positioning at your target schools. For IIMA, GMAT helps, but leadership maturity and impact will matter even more.

Priyanka here from ARINGO. You already have a solid foundation for your target schools, strong academics, good brand names on the resume, and experience across finance, strategy, and VC. Your time at Entrepreneur First also adds a different angle to your profile, which helps because it makes your background more dynamic than a typical finance applicant. The move toward consulting after MBA is also understandable from where you are today.

At this stage, the GMAT will be an important factor. For the schools you’re targeting, I’d recommend aiming for at least 675+ on the GMAT Focus. A score closer to 695+ would put you in a stronger position, especially for the more competitive global programs.

Beyond the score, the way your experience is presented will matter a lot. Hi @explicaboaperiam You will be on the lower side of the spectrum by the time you apply to these schools. Focus on planning your way forward so that you demonstrate a sharp career growth progression and diverse experience in terms of projects, exposure to industry-wide problems, and strong stakeholder management by the time you apply.

Think about why you want to become a product manager. Deep dive into the kind of problems you would want to solve. I always tell my mentees who are fixated on PM goals to let product be a tool to build solutions to broader gaps in the industry rather than the end goal in itself.

With about 3 YOE, you’ll be on the younger side for most MBA programs, where the average is usually 4–6 years. So make sure you clearly highlight 'Why MBA?' and 'Why now?'. That said, being a female applicant in tech/analytics will help you from a diversity standpoint.

Your post id dated 5-10 months ago, but this hit my inbox today. The responses from others are also for another name. Not sure if a profile assessment is still relevant. In case it is, some details follow.

WE of 3 years presents challenges for INSEAD and LBS, not just in getting in, but also in terms of your post-MBA employment opportunities. For IE, HEC & Bocconi, your transition from tech aided operation to Prod based roles seems to require better articulation, and better rationale. The clarity in enabling yourself to make the pivot will also help your essays come out more compelling and bring in a narrative that will help. A client of mine with a similar profile, though with a 7 month work gap after PWC, and then joined a small, family owned firm, worked for about 2.5 years and got into Booth. Her GRE was 329 though.

Your planned transition from Energy to Consulting could be shaped as a feasible and yet ambitious plan for an upgrade (though the theme from IT to energy to consulting will need a high degree of clarity, both in your head, and in your ability to convince the AdComs)

Given your ORM demographics, and a list of ambitious MBA programs, a GMAt of 695+ would be the very minimum I would look at. A 715 or higher could however, pitch your case for high scholarships as well. The case for your post-MBA employment would also have to be detailed and bullet-proof for the AdComs to consider you seriously.

3. Anything less than 3 years at the time of applying is too little for any top B School across the World.

I'd say the school selection is reasonably well done. While your GPA could be seen as weak, your GRE score should be fine for these schools. A lot will depend on your career vision, especially since you've recently joined M.
