This arguments seems to be based on unrelated facts, where the author failed to provide enough evidence for his argument. To bring postal service in profits government should raise the prices of the postage stamp. Due to this postal service will generate large revenue, but it also decrease the volume of the mail. Therefore there will be no load on existing system and it will take postal service to new level. The author here failed to support his argument and also this arguments has been overlooked by him/her.
Firstly, If the postal service is deteriorating then there might some reason like poor service, any other better service then postal service e.g. E-mails, private mail service or any other. In such case if government rises the existing cost of the postage stamp. Then its not sure whether customer will still come. What if private mail service might have less prices then postal service. Also, how much prices should be increased from which postal service will be in profit because we dont know the how much loss is postal service bearing.
Secondly, The author has directly concluded that this solution will be effective just because it generate the larger revenues. Also the author mention that this will reduce the volume of the mail. So this contradicts. If due to the increase in prices, if it is reducing the volume in mail then how postal service will achieve the desire profits. We don't know how much the prices is increased. If postal service have increased $1 then it will not going to generate much profits on this if volume of the mail reduces then this will also reduce the revenue. However, the author here failed to related prices and volume correctly.
Lastly, The author states that this eliminate the stress on the postal service. If the volume of the mail is reduced then strain will less but postal service want to generate more revenue so obliviously they will need more volume of mail. If the volume of the mails are increased they will need more good service and internal operation. Again the author state that this will improve the morale which failed here completely. If the volume of the mail is decreased then there will decreased in revenue. So the author's purpose to bring postal service in profits fails.
