shortlist B and C, because of "as" vs "like"

1)  B  one of the many factors require plural verb form "keep". From B, D, and E.. the use of "like" in D and E can be further eliminated and we are left with B as the answer.

2)  E  A, B, and D make no sense.. between C and E - C is wrong because "such an end" is unidiomatic

Agree with the formula in red. Doesn`t "albeit AN important ONE" signal that the formula is not applicable here?....so the answer would be C..

"albeit AN important ONE" is rehashing the "one of the fatcors" ..Its an sppositive...It can be removed without changing meaning...Hence B
