haha... I wonder if Stanford is REALLY like that. I was there for a couple years and met some B-school students (didn't ask them much back then since I wasn't interested in B-school), but they all seemed pretty "normal" to me...

You were there for a couple of years? How was it like?

rankingsgod1 is a person that makes forums painful to read... :(

There is no a sense of community... everybody is out there with their own secret agenda - to show off their scores/admits/promote their school/their company... or to troll...

btw, how many GMAT clubbers lurk on BW? any estimates? I'm on there...

wow, BW forums sound like a place NOT to be. I've never surfed there, as I've heard bad things about them (other than ones listed here).

for adc, Stanford folks seem as "normal" as other folks. They may be slightly removed from reality a bit, due to the culture of Stanford (being on its own land and somewhat sectioned off from the rest of the world, even though it's in the heart of Silicon Valley), but they're good people. People are definitely smart there, but not as arrogant or snobby as some other schools on the East Coast ;) (no offense to alums of those EC schools!). I can't speak for all of the b-school students, but from the few I met, they were all pretty cool and focused people. I'll know more after I meet some more students from there during the application process.

Yeah, I think the main problem there is that everyone has an agenda, to make whichever school they are planning to attend look better, and they try to accomplsih this by denegrating other schools. It's hard to pick through the BS to find any useful information.

The absence of rankingsgod1 !! :-D

I'll see your rankingsgod1 and raise you: rockman.

Most of you probably don't remember rockman before he was banned. He was a troll of the highest order. Someone would ask about Oxford, and he'd tell them it was terrible and only H/S were any good. Someone would ask about whether or not Columbia placed people in IB. He'd tell them Columbia sucked and H/S placed more people. Someone would ask about resume length and he'd somehow turn it into a H/S rant. He'd tell students at current schools who were posting that they "didn't know what they were talking about" and that "theres no way you get do PE from anything but H/S".

I eventually couldn't stand him anymore and just ripped into him... I wish I still had that rant.

Another aspect of BW I dislike is the forum interface, and its slower than GMATclub. So I only post on BW only when I have to.

Overall I think the problem with BW forums (besides its terrible layout) is a lot of the regular posters seem to provide terrible information. People who could contribute are quickly driven away after reading some of the stuff there. There is a lot of misinformation given out and when people ask questions half the replies are rude and condescending. I think it’s what gives a lot our Indian friends their "I must get a 750" complex since over there people tell them not to bother without a 770.

I do go on there but I don't participate since I don't want to deal with a lot of the stuff that is said there. I have read numerous posts that are borderline racist and lots of posts telling people they don’t have chance. I always wondered if those people have weaker profiles than the people they are responding to and are hoping to increase their odds by scaring others away.

I checked it out a few weeks ago and was so turned off by the rants. It was a good thing i checked out other sites because I would of reconsidered bschool if they were the representation of my future classmates. It almost reminds me of yahoo discussions b4 they turned that off.

Yeah they paint a very bad picture of future MBA classmates.
