A = {9, 10, 11, 12, x}

(2) x is not a prime number.

Statement 2

(2) x is not a prime number.

For Statement 2, as x not being a prime number allows for values like 8 or 10.5, it is insufficient.

Statement 1

(1) x is not an integer

a) \(x \leq 10\)

Median = 10

(42+x) / 5 = 10

x = 8

b)\( x \geq 11\)

median = 11

(42+x) / 5 = 11

x = 13

c) 10 < x < 11

median = x

(42+x) / 5 = x

x = 10.5

Only one value satisfies. Sufficient.

IMO A
