Ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without is p to q

Total Employees = 32
Total employees in AI department = 32x0.75 = 24
Total employees in Cybersecurity department = 32 - 24 = 8

AI :

With master degree = (5/8)x24 = 15
Without master degree = 24-15 = 9

Cybersecurity:

With master degree = (3/8)x8= 3
Without master degree = 8-3 = 5

Combined master degree employees = 15+3 = 18
Combined without master degree employees = 32-18 = 14

Ratio of p and q = p:q = 18:14 = 9:7
=> p=9 and q=7

Total employees = 32
AI = 75% of 32 = 24
Cyber security = 8

Masters in Cyber : No masters in Cyber = 3 : 5
Masters in AI : No masters in AI = 5:3 = 15 : 9

Total masters = 18
Total no masters = 14

  • In the cybersecurity team, the ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without is 3:5.
  • In the AI team, the ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without is 5:3.

If the ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without is p to q, select for p the possible value of p, and select for q the possible value of q that would be jointly consistent with the given information. Make only two selections, one in each column.

What we know is:
  • 24 people in AI (a) and 8 in Cybersecurity (c)
  • From 8 in c: 3 with masters and 5 without.
  • From 24 in a: 15 with masters and 9 without.

Therefore, total with masters is \(p=3+15=18\), and without \(q=5+9=14\)
Then \(p:q=18:14=9:7\)

So, p is 9 and q is 7.
