The answers are 9:7

T=32

75/100*32 = 24 and 25/100*32 = 8

CS=> 3x+5x = 8x = 8 x=1
AI=> 5x+3x= 8x = 24 x=3

with masters => 15+3 = 18
without master => 9+5 = 14

18:14 = 9:7

A tech startup has recently expanded its team to 32 employees, focusing on two main areas: artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Here's the team composition:

  • 75% of the employees work in AI, while the remaining 25% work in cybersecurity. There is no overlap between these departments.
  • In the cybersecurity team, the ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without is 3:5.
  • In the AI team, the ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without is 5:3.

If the ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without is p to q, select for p the possible value of p, and select for q the possible value of q that would be jointly consistent with the given information. Make only two selections, one in each column.
Total 32 -> 24 AI, 8 Cyber.
In 24 AI -> 15 Masters, 9 Non.
In 8 Cyber -> 3 Masters, 5 Non

So p:q = 18:14 => 9:7.

Hence IMO 9,7

Cybersecurity Team

With Master's / Without Masters = 3/5

They have to be 3 and 5 as the total is 8

AI Team

With Master's / Without Masters = 5a/3a

5a + 3a = 24; a = 3

With Master's / Without Masters = 15/9

Total

With Master's / Without Masters = (3+15)/(5+9) = 18/14 = 9/7

p = 9 and q = 7

Answer 9 and 7

total employees = 32
In AI = 75% of 32 = 24
In CyberSecurity = 25% of 32 = 8

3:5 of employees with master degree and non master degree in CyberSecurity
which means, 3 employees have master degrees and 5 have no master degree out of 8 Cybersecurity employees

5:3 of employees with master degree and non master degree in AI
which means, 15 employees have master degrees and 9 have no master degree out of 24 Cybersecurity employees

total ratio of employees with master degree and non master degree
3+15 = 18 master degree
5 + 9 = 14 non master degree

ratio = 18:14 = 9:7

Hence p = 9, q = 7

AI employees are 3/4 x 32 = 24 meaning cyber security will be 8
Those with masters in Cyber security will be 3 and those without 5
Those with masters in AI will be 5/8 x 24 = 15 meaning those without are 9
Total masters 15+3 =18 meaning those without will be 32-18= 14
Ratio is 18:14 or 9:7

32 = T but composed by AI and CS
- 3/4T are AI and 1/4T are CS so 24 = AI and 8 = CS
- CS ratio of master's to not masters is 3:5 so 3 have masters and 5 do not.
- AI master's to not masters is 5:3 so 15 have masters and 9 do not.

masters to not masters total is p:q the ratio is then

18/14 is the ratio which is equivalent to 9/7

AI = 5/8*24 = 15
Cyber = 3/8*8 = 3
Total With master's = 19

Not master's degree employees
AI = 3/8*24 = 9
Cyber = 5/8*8 = 5
Total with no master's = 14

This is also a matrix problem.
Cybesecurity (C) = 3x+5x=8x.
3x-----> with masters.
5x---> without masters.
AI = 5y+3y=8y.
5y-----> with masters.
3y----> without masters
C/AI=25%/75%=1/3. 8x/8y=x/y=1/3. So y=3x.

p/q=(3x+5y) /(5x+3y) =18x/14x=9/7

Total employees 32
75% will be in AI =24
25% will be in Cyber security =8
As per ration Cyber will be have 3 with masters and 5 without masters
As per ration in AI 15 with masters and 9 without masters
total with masters 18 and without masters 14
Ration will be 18/14 = 9/7
P will be 9 and q will be 7

so, 32-[AI= 24, C=8],

C- 8,
So, Mc+Nc=8,
given, Mc/Nc= 3/5
=>Mc= 3/5 Nc
therefore, Mc+Nc= 3/5Nc+ Nc= 8/5Nc= 8 => [Nc= 5, Mc=3]

Now, AI= 24
So, Ma+Na= 24,
given, Ma/Na= 5/3
=>Mc= 5/3 Nc
therefore, Mc+Nc= 5/3Nc+ Nc= 8/3Nc=24 => [Nc= 9, Mc=15].

ratio of employees with a master's degree to those without= (Ma+Mc)/(Na+Nc)= p/q= 18/14= 9/7.

so, p= 9, q= 7 ans.

First, we calculate number of those in AI and cyber:
AI = 0.75*32 = 24, Cyber = remaining = 8 (since no overlap)

Out of 32 employees, 24 are for AI and 8 for cyber security. In cyber security there are 8 employees out of which 3 hold a master's degree and 5 do not hold it. In AI there are 24 employees out of which 15 hold a master's degree and 9 do not hold it.
Out of the total, employees holding master's degree = 3+15 = 18
Out of the total, employees not holding master's degree = 5+9 = 14
The ratio of total employees with a master's degree to those without = 18:14 i.e 9:7
Therefore, p:q = 9:7
