I’m posting this as a PSA for the 2026-27 intake.
My Profile:•
Experience: 15 years, Serial Entrepreneur.
•
Civic Impact: Built a community of 35k citizens.
•
Athletics: International Athlete (Represented country in 100km World Championship).
The Decision: I went
Test Optional at MIT Sloan, betting on the "strength of my profile."
The Result: Rejected. No interview.
The Reality Check for Next Year's Applicants:Stop obsessing over "profile building," "impact stories," and "extracurriculars" if you don’t have a score in hand. After 15 years in the game and representing my country on the world stage, I’ve realized that for M7/T15 schools,
the score is 80-90% of the factor for an interview call.
Without a number, your "world-class" story is just noise to an AdCom. You can be a "unicorn," but if you don't give them the data point they need to protect their rankings, the door stays shut.
My Wisdom: Don’t believe the "holistic" marketing.
The score trumps everything else. Spend 90% of your energy on the GMAT/GRE and 10% on the essays, not the other way around.
