Hi Barnal,

I'm curious about your overall studies so far:

1) What other materials have you studied with?
2) Have you taken any FULL-LENGTH CATS yet (and if so, then what were your Scaled Scores in the Quant and Verbal sections)?
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?

When reviewing a CAT, rather than focus on the the total number of questions that you got correct, think about the questions that you COULD/SHOULD have gotten correct but didn't. Figure out WHY you got those questions wrong and "fix" those issues. Silly/little mistakes are what cost Test Takers points, so making sure that those mistakes don't happen should be one of your priorities.

Hello Rich
Thanks for your questions and for your active participation in this forum (as i said earlier, I spend some good time here...).
1/ I started my "Road to Quant 50+" by reading some pages of "Crack the gmat by princeton" to review math, as I found it was kind of too easy, I gave up. (in other words, it was not made for people having strong science background).

2/ Two weeks ago, I took the Manhattan free test. I got Total 560 (Q:38 V29) but I only focused on Quants. Reviewing my mistakes on Quant, I saw that I should have got a lot more correct than I did. Reviewing math basic principles was the way to go. That's what I did thanks to the Gmat Club book.
Besides this test, I am trying to do some Quants on the forum and review the 700+ tricky questions everyday.

3/ I plan to do GMAT exam on beginning of August if everything is alright on my preparation. As I am non native (hard to guess when you read my fluent writting skills...ahah), I spend 3 years working in Africa now, my english is not as good as it was.

To be fair, I've started working on Gmat for 2 weeks now and believe me or not, I love the quants part. I am ashamed to say it but during breaking hours of my work, I love to go to forum and get some tough Quants...

Anyway, I think that getting Verbal 45+ will be tougher for me but one thing at a time, I aim to make 3 Quants test with 48 average and then I ll start Verbal.

Edit : I love your signature 8-) 8-)

Hi Barnal,

With an August Test Date, you have plenty of time to continue studying, which is good (many Test Takers don't given themselves enough time to accomplish their goals). Your Verbal skills also seem fine, by the way. Most Test Takers don't realize how strategic and predictable the Verbal section of the GMAT actually is....and they try to 'figure out the correct answer by looking at all 5 and choosing the one that "sounds best"...' That approach is the opposite of strategic.

To score at a high level, you should try to find a way to look at the Verbal section in the same way that you look at the Quant section. You clearly like the challenge (figuring out the patterns, etc.); bring THAT attitude to the Verbal section and you'll find that there are standards/patterns/secrets there also....and you can score at a high level in that section too.
